MINSK, November 30, 2017, 18:49 – REGNUM

The session of the Collective Security Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) ended in Minsk. At the plenary meeting that followed the plenary session, the presidents of the member countries signed a number of documents related to the implementation of the CSTO collective security strategy for the coming years, the further development of the military component of the organization, cooperation in defense, foreign policy and a number of other spheres.

According to the press service of the Armenian President, along with two dozen issues discussed during the session, political statements were also adopted, including the statement on the support of the mediation efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chair countries on the Nagorno-Karabakh settlement, presented at the initiative of Armenia, in which the presidents of the CSTO member countries once again confirmed their support for the activities of the co-chairs of the Minsk Group, as well as the well-known three principles of the settlement of the conflict: the right of peoples to self-determination, I or threat of force, territorial integrity.

As for the negotiation process, it is known that on December 6, the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Aremnia and Azerbaijan with the participation of the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group will be held in Vienna. The agreement on the meeting today, November 30, was confirmed by Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov.

“On December 6, I will meet both with the co-chairs and with the Armenian Foreign Minister,” the Azerbaijani minister said after meeting with his Turkish and Pakistani counterparts in Baku. He said that Azerbaijan agreed to this meeting.

“We always say that negotiations must be logical and substantive. During the Moscow meeting, we held deep and detailed discussions with the co-chairs. Probably, the co-chairs will continue negotiations in this direction, “the minister said.

An unexpected statement was made by the Foreign Minister of Turkey Movlut Cavusoglu. According to him, yesterday, November 29, he met with the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group.

“Yesterday I met with the co-chairs. I told them about the need to be more active, determined and sincere, and stressed that I will support in this area, “the Turkish minister said.

He recalled the statements made by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan during a meeting with Vladimir Putin: “Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that if Russia is resolute, this issue will find its solution, and Turkey will support this initiative. We support all the formulas that correspond to the interests of Azerbaijan. ”

In turn, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, Khawaja Muhammad Asif, after the meeting with his Azerbaijani and Turkish counterparts, said that all three countries have a common position on the issues of Kashmir, Nagorno-Karabakh and Northern Cyprus, and should take this position to resolve these issues. ”

Yerevan and Stepanakert repeatedly stated that Turkey should stay as far from the Karabakh conflict as possible.

“If the Turkish leadership is not tired for years to repeat the same thing – this is his problem. Obviously, if Turkey wants to help resolve the conflict, it should stay as far as possible, “Armenian Foreign Ministry spokesman Tigran Balayan said October 30, commenting on Turkey’s one-sided statement on Karabakh.
