After liberating the Zahi mountain peak located near Kessab, the Syrian army also recently liberated all the hills and forests on the Kessab-Latakia highway that terrorist groups had used to place their snipers and bomb the area, writes Aleppo’s Kantsasar newspaper.

The Kasdal Muaf highway has also been opened, stretching to the border of Kessab.

After being closed for three years, the highway was opened for the first time for buses traveling from Latakia to Kessab.

The Syrian army is currently restoring the highway by demining and asphalting it until the highway is officially announced as a safe area.

The mines haven’t been removed yet, and the highway still hasn’t been declared as a safe area. Drivers still aren’t allowed to take that highway.

According to the source, citizens of Kessab are calmer now, and there are no more heated clashes in the region.
