The Czech Senate adopted a resolution condemning crimes against Nazi humanity and the Armenian Genocide, Katerina Aizpurvit,
20․05․2020 – Armenian Genocide:
The upper house of the Czech parliament adopted a resolution condemning the crimes against Nazi humanity and the Armenian genocide in 1915 in the Ottoman Empire. At the same time, the Senate pointed out the inadmissibility of the destruction of people on ethnic or religious grounds in any part of the world.
The resolution was adopted in connection with the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II at the proposal of the deputy chairman of the Senate Milan Shtikh from the Social Democratic Party.
At the same time, the Upper House rejected the proposal made by Senator Tomas Irsa from the party of civil democrats to similarly condemn the persecution of Christians in countries dominated by another religion. Also, the proposal of the TOR-09 Deputy Chairman Tomas Chernin to condemn communist repression in the countries of the former USSR was not supported. These additions, according to Milan Stich, did not meet the concept of resolution.
