Russia: After defeat in Syria, Iraq, ISIS shifts its interests in CIS states, including Armenia

After the defeat in Syria and Iraq, the ISIS shifts its interests to the territory of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Armenia, said the head of the Main Directorate for Countering Extremism of the Russian Interior Ministry, Oleg Ilinykh.

According to him, ISIS leaders are nurturing plans to form a worldwide terrorist network, sleeping cells that demonstrate the ability to carry out terrorist attacks around the world, RIA Novosti reported.

“The strategic defeat of the Caliphate in Syria and Iraq entails a shift in the ISIS interests to the territory of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia,” he said.
