Turkey is trying to “get their hands on” Nakhichevan with the help of mercenaries-terrorists

Turkey pursues an active policy of expansion of Nakhichevan. This is done not only in the economic plane, but also in a purely military, under the guise of joint exercises with Azerbaijan.

The policy is carried out so openly that even on maps published in Turkish newspapers, Nakhichevan is painted in the same color as Turkey. Graduates of Turkish military schools dominate among the commanders of the 20,000-strong separate combined arms army stationed in autonomy, and military units from Turkey are constant guests at all sorts of exercises, the intensity of which, like the combat training in general, has recently increased markedly.

The army deployed in Nakhijevan is used to supply the newest weapons purchased abroad, including the Turkish 302-mm Kasirga multiple rocket launcher systems with a range of up to 120 km. According to some analysts, the territory of the autonomous region may indeed become a kind of springboard for the Turkish “jump” to the South Caucasus and Central Asia.

In order to justify its excessive activity in Nakhijevan and to divert the attention of interested parties from their true intentions, Turkish propaganda actively distributes misinformation calculations, and uses the Azerbaijani press for its own purposes. For example, on June 5, an article by a Turkish journalist, Saiga Ozturk, was published in the Azerbaijani media under the headline “Armenia was behind the attack on an Azerbaijani truck in Igdir.”

The journalist is trying to convince Azerbaijani society of the importance of the role of Turkey in ensuring the security of the NAR. From time to time, Turkey and Azerbaijan will intensify informational emissions about some mythical “Kurdish camps” in Armenia and Karabakh. Distributors of misinformation are of little concern to the fact that the representatives of the OSCE Minsk Group, who regularly visit Armenia and Artsakh, never mentioned something similar in their reports.

An economic factor is added to the military component of the Turkish expansion. In the summer of 2017, the Minister of Economy of Turkey, Nihat Zeybekchi, said that Ankara intends to create a free economic zone in Nakhijevan. The lack of common borders between the autonomous republic and the metropolis gives neighboring Turkey a unique opportunity to strengthen its position in all key sectors of the regional economy.

Meanwhile, the facts show that it is the citizens of Azerbaijan who ensure the delivery of various funds from the cells of terrorist groups in other countries, as well as from relatives and friends of persons involved in armed conflicts, to ensure their terrorist activities. In general, the above-mentioned persons in different ways provide more than $ 500 thousand to the members of the factions participating in the armed conflict in Syria.

According to experts, under the guise of exercises from Azerbaijan, it is possible to transfer additional forces of mercenaries-terrorists to the line of contact with Artsakh. The terrorist groups deployed from the Middle East may be involved there. This will allow Baku to reduce losses among the Armed Forces personnel. Moreover, in response to the problems in Idlib, the Turks can intensify the hostilities in the Transcaucasus.

However, the miscalculation of the Azerbaijani authorities that the situation threatens to get out of control. And then the whole territory of Azerbaijan will turn into a lair of terrorists. In fact, behind the declarations of friendship and fraternity, Ankara’s desire to “get their hands on” Nakhijevan, and on occasion the whole “fraternal Azerbaijan” hides, using for this purpose mercenaries-terrorists.
