Pro-Turkish Turkish figure Osman Kavala was released after 840 days in custody

A public figure, businessman Osman Kavala, charged with “attempting to overthrow the government of the Republic of Turkey” has been released by the Istanbul City Criminal Court.
Osman Kavala is a well-known public figure. He founded and headed the Anadolu Kültür Foundation for many years, organizing events representing Armenian culture for many years. Cavallah accepted the fact of the Armenian Genocide and strongly condemned it.
Kavala actively participated in anti-government protests at Gezi Park in the summer of 2013. He was remanded in custody in 2017. in December. He was charged in 2016. participating in the military coup attempt.
Many Turkish and international human rights organizations have raised their voices demanding an end to Kavala’s illegal detention.
Osman Kavala was facing life imprisonment. His acquittal and release were made after an 840-day arrest in 2020. on February 18.
