Call to UNESCO: Let’s save Sainte Sophia from turning into a mosque

Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s instructions in Istanbul, the Orthodox world and particularly the Greek, which is an integral part of huge importance to the Christian heritage of the Orthodox Church, is now expected to be reconverted into a mosque of the magnificent Hagia Sophia church used as a museum.
As it is known, Sainte Sophia is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. For this reason, some organizations started a petition and applied to UNESCO.
Defense organization of Christians (IDC), the US Armenian Cause Council (ANCA) and the Hellenic American Leadership Council (HALC / Hellenic American Leadership Council) by participants in the initiated petition to UNESCO, the answer to be given to the continuous voiced threats to the change of Turkey’s Sainte Sophia status they are asking.
The Greek Foreign Ministry, stressing that the insults against the international community’s actions, he said Turkey’s international world heritage and the need to respect the UNESCO members. Those who started the signature campaign expressed their agreement with this statement.
As you can remember, with the reading of the time of conquest in Sainte Sophia on the anniversary of the conquest of Istanbul, Hagia Sophia became a mosque again. Finally, President Erdogan said, “The nation decides.”
