President of the Union of Architects of Azerbaijan Elbay Kasim Zade proposes to destroy all Armenian churches in Artsakh. These buildings are one of the elements of violence against the Azerbaijani people. They are a kind of symbol of the fact that our lands have been “occupied”; there are architectural signs that will be a disgrace to our losses in the First Karabakh War forever. “I do not completely agree, I think they should be destroyed,” he said.
The statement of the Azeri official is especially significant given the fact that he did not allow UNESCO observers to visit the territories of Artsakh occupied by Azerbaijan.
In this context, it is undoubtedly the genocide of the Armenian people in the territory of modern Azerbaijan, as one of the actions is not only the physical destruction of the population, but also the cultural heritage.
