On Tuesday, January 19, the ninth-year anniversary of the murder of Istanbul Armenian journalist Hrant Dink—the founder and chief editor of Agos Armenian bilingual weekly of Istanbul—the “Friends of Hrant” initiative will hold a memorial event outside the former office building of this weekly.
As News.am reports, the mourning ceremony devoted to Dink, however, will kick off at Taksim Square in downtown Istanbul.
Subsequently, those assembled will march toward Agos’ former office building, outside of which Hrant Dink was shot dead nine years ago.
The main mourning event will get underway outside this building.
And in the evening, several NGOs and the pro-Kurdish “Peoples’ Democratic Party” (HDP) will hold a “turn of duty of justice” at the Dink murder scene.
Hrant Dink commemorations will also be held in several other cities in Turkey.
