Azerbaijan seeks to sign a document on demarcation and delimitation with Armenia so that it becomes an international document recognizing Nakhijevan and Artsakh as the territory of Azerbaijan. Member of the Liberation Movement Nairi Ohikyan stated this at a press conference on December 28.
“The signing of a document on demarcation and delimitation with Azerbaijan should not be allowed. He is not the legal successor of Soviet Azerbaijan. And this means that from a legal point of view, we are several steps ahead, but Nikol Pashinyan’s anti-national policy may lead to the fact that we will find ourselves several steps back, ”said Ohikyan.
He also stressed that in no case should the Baku corridor be provided. “Even if the security of this corridor is ensured by some third country, Armenia will lose its sovereignty over its sovereign territory. This is a corridor, nothing more can be said, ”the oppositionist said.
In his words, one cannot strive unilaterally for peace, especially when a neighboring state is pursuing a policy of Armenophobia. “It is impossible to discuss the issue of opening and exploiting roads with Azerbaijan, and until the issue of security of the peoples of Armenia and Artsakh is resolved. A large number of hostages and prisoners of war are being held and tortured in Azerbaijan. Baku does not fulfill its obligations, firing at the peaceful population of Artsakh and Armenia, terrorizing the Armenians passing along the road near Shushi, ”said Ohikyan.
In turn, Diaspora representative Sevak Hakobyan noted that as long as Ankara supports Azerbaijan’s aggressive policy towards Armenia and denies the Armenian Genocide, the issue of opening and operating roads with Turkey cannot be discussed. “The current government does not have a diaspora mandate to negotiate with Turkey,” he said.
