ANNOUNCEMENTOn initiative of the GARO KAHKEJIAN FOUNDATION, a monument of Garo Kahkejian, the Founder and Commander of the CRUSADERS brigade under the special forces of Artsakh, will be erected in the memorial park of Maghavuz village located in Mardagert region of Artsakh. The sculpt author is Isahak Abreyan.
The statue will be made of basalt stone, 4 meter in height and 10 ton in weight, and is to be dedicated to the memory of Garo Kahkejian nicknamed as “Sptak Arch” – “The White Bear”, who fought and martyred at the strategic heights of Pushkin Yal near the village of Maghavuz, liberation of which allowed also the successful operation for liberation of Mardagert regional center. It should be noted, that the GARO KAHKEJIAN FOUNDATION was founded on 9 September, 2013 in aim to embody the idea of hero’s statue erecting.
Over the past 2 years, the Foundation, in close cooperation with sculptor Isahak Abreyan, discussed all the details of the statue – date of erection, materials, shape, as well as the fund raising – and jointly reached the final decision, on the one hand; and on the other hand, the members of the Foundation sent official letter to Mr. Vladik Khachateryan, the Head of the Municipality of Mardagert region, aimed to discuss the certain location of the statue, as well as to define the legal procedures to accept the final approval for the project.
Official submission was approved. Since all the sensitive issues had been discussed, the project implementation will commence with the announcement of fund raising to accomplish the program, which will be an act of honoring the hero.
