GET DOWN ! UNTIL 1965 THE USSR DID NOT ALLOW MEMORIAL GATHERING OF THE ARMENIAN GENOCIDE 1915

The Armenian Genocide Memorial located on Tsitsernakapert Hill in Yerivan, the capital of Armenia, completed its construction in 1967 to commemorate the 1915 Events.

The columns representing the 12 cities where the massacres took place, a 44-meter-high stone symbolizing rebirth of the Armenian people and in the middle of the Monument, the fire that never extinguished in the memory of the victims consists of 3 parts.

Later, a museum was built in 1995 with documents and photographs together as part of the Monument. Every year on April 24, the Armenian people and Armenians from the Diaspora visit the Monument and leave flowers.

The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics did not allow events to commemorate the Armenian Genocide in the framework of “Turkish-Soviet Friendship” until 1965.

Even though Turkey’s joining NATO in 1952 caused cold winds between Turkey and the Soviets, the Soviets were still chasing dreams.

These dreams are maintained by Putin, who took over the heritage of the Soviets. Russia still has not given up on its dreamy actions over Turkey. Cooperation in Karabakh, the compromises made to Azerbaijan are the main fruits of this.

Putin’s aim is to weaken Turkey from NATO by “implementing the Eurasian Plan”. On the 50th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide 1915, an unauthorized show of power was organized in Yerivan, the capital of Armenia in 1965 with the participation of hundreds of thousands of people.

Soviet law forces intervened in the demonstration using force, hundreds of people were arrested.

This incident was the first step taken to the struggle for recognition of the 1915 Genocide, and as a result of the Soviet administrators giving up and allowing the commemoration ceremonies for the 1915 genocide, the construction of the Genocide Monument began in 1965 and was completed in 1967.
