According to an orientalist, modern Armenia is 7% of historical Armenia, most of which is now part of Turkey.
YEREVAN, Oct. 31 – Sputnik. The current Armenian state would be better called Eastern Armenia. This was stated by Russian orientalist Semyon Bagdasarov on the air of Vesti FM.
Bagdasarov noted that he is not against the official name – the Republic of Armenia, but it would be correct if it was called the Republic of Eastern Armenia. According to him, modern Armenia is 7% of historical Armenia, most of which is now the territory of Turkey.
Referring to recent statements by the adviser to the President of the United States – John Bolton, made in Yerevan, Bagdasarov added that the Americans are trying to tear Armenia off from Russia.
“What is the strategy of the United States towards Russia and, accordingly, with the allies of Russia and those states in the post-Soviet space that surround our country? We must clearly assume that the US’s strategy is based on a long enough program of pressure on Russia to change of the existing government and the collapse of the state, the formation of several quasi-states on the territory of Russia that would be easily manageable, “said Bagdasarov.
At the same time, the expert believes that Bolton received a fitting rebuff from the Armenian authorities. According to him, Nikol Pashinyan rather sharply answered the American official.
At a briefing in Armenia, Bolton said that Nikol Pashinyan’s possible victory in the parliamentary elections would allow him “to make bold decisions on Karabakh.” A couple of days later, in an interview with journalists, Pashinyan said that “Bolton cannot speak on his behalf.”
Bagdasarov considers it absurd and unacceptable that a representative of a country that is only 300 years old is trying to teach people with a 4000-year history.
Semen Bagdasarov also expressed confidence that Nikol Pashinyan’s party would win the upcoming parliamentary elections in December in Armenia.
